Over the summer, I purged my record collection for the second time. Selling back to Amoeba what was 75 percent theirs to begin with. My former collection is in Canada, but that's another story. So there are now two more milk crates for me to use as alternative storage or whatever. To tell you the truth, my heart sinks a little when I throw a pair of jeans on top of them...without there being vinyls inside. I'm trying not to get attached, trying to lessen my load unrepentantly. It's a challenge, really, there has been so much emotion wrapped up in those plates. Man, if they could talk, they would scream. Anyway, what is left is what is classic to me. Some nostalgia, some magic, some I still refuse to part with. What is left fits in one black bag. Good to go. All 12" with a couple 7s and 45s. Nothing digital. Never has and never will.
